Zimbabwe’s senior women’s football team, the Mighty Warriors, are expected to face a stern test when they take on Malawi tomorrow, Tuesday, 13 October 2026 at the National Sports Stadium.
The encounter presents an important opportunity for Zimbabwe to assess their readiness, build confidence and strengthen their combinations against regional opposition.
The Mighty Warriors will be looking to put in a disciplined performance, with defensive organisation, midfield control and clinical finishing likely to play a key role in determining the outcome.
Malawi are also expected to provide strong opposition, making the clash an important test for Zimbabwe as they seek to raise their competitiveness in women’s football.
The return-leg match will be played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm CAT.
Zimbabwe will need to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat in Lilongwe, where Malawi’s Temwa and Tabitha Chawinga scored one goal each.
Coach Stella Gotal’s charges will therefore need to convert their scoring opportunities while remaining solid at the back if they are to keep their Olympic qualification hopes alive.
The winner of the tie will advance to the next round to face either Kenya or Seychelles.
For Zimbabwe, the mission is clear: fight back, make home advantage count and keep the dream of reaching the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games alive.
