Chikomba East Constituency Co-ordinator Cde Lovemore Masunungure has urged the community to continue showing respect to civil servants, acknowledging their vital role in driving the country’s development agenda.

Speaking during a preparatory meeting for the Annual Felix Tapiwa Mhona Tournament at Chimowa Primary School on Saturday, Cde Lovemore Masunungure emphasized the importance of respecting civil servants, particularly teachers, as they are instrumental in nurturing children into productive members of the community and the economy, urging both party leadership and society to recognize their vital contributions.

“It will be very sad to see civil servants especially teachers queuing together with members of the community yet they must rush back to their respective schools to carry out their duties which are important in the community.

“It is also important for us as a community to understand that it does not take much for us to respect teachers and give them due respect. We also expect the same respect to be rendered to all civil servants.

“I call upon councillors and respective leaders to prioritize civil servants during those times where there are opportunities or handing out of goods. I believe that were are all here because of the works of teachers,” said Masunungure.

Masunungure went on, “Our MP, Honorable Mhona, has deep respect for everyone, especially for economic and social development agencies like teachers and the police, who receive this respect from our community.

We applaud the Councillors who have adopted this mindset and pray that it is embraced by all of us”.

During his address about the upcoming tournament, Masunungure announced that it will take place at Chimowa Primary and Secondary School this Friday, with several stakeholders set to attend the event.

Reports also indicate that there will be a tree planting event on the same day, during which schools will receive donations of trees to enhance their green environment.

Masunungure added that medical checkups will be provided on the day, upholding the commitment to wellness for all attendees.

In the soccer category, the tournament will pit Manyanga, Duvhurwi, Rare, and Mpatsi against each other, while Queen’s soccer Tsate, Manyanga Wazvaremhaka, and Nharira will compete against each other.

Lastly in netball,  Zvamatobwe, Masasa, Gokomere, and Mpatsi will compete for victory.

Every participant in this year’s tournament is set to benefit something, as last year’s event saw participants receiving prizes such as she goats and other valuable items from the Honourable Minister Felix Tapiwa Mhona.

The Honourable Minister also hosted a Marathon and Wellness Day event at Masasa earlier this year, promoting health and fitness within the community.
