The Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Torerayi Moyo, announced yesterday that the deadline for the ZIMSEC exams has been extended to the first week of May.

The decision to extend the deadline was made in response to concerns raised by legislators and parents who were unable to meet the initial deadline set by the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC).

Responding to the question and answer session in Parliament Hon Moyo said the deadline is set for Friday of the first week of May.

“The official deadline for November examination was March 25 2024, however because of the request from Members of Parliament I have consulted the board of ZIMSEC and we have agreed to extend the deadline to the first week of May. If I am correct, it should be Friday of that first week,” he said.

Hon Moyo added that the new deadline will provide additional time for students to register as candidates and mobilize the necessary resources.

“The government had take heed of concerns from legislators and parents who said they were failing to meet the deadline initially set by the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council(ZIMSEC). The Elnino induced drought has parents struggling to beat the deadline,” said Hon Moyo.

The Government’s extension of the exam deadline for both O And A level examination fees from 25 March to 03 May has been welcomed by parents and guardians as it comes as a game changer that provides adequate time to raise the funds.
