The Mudawarima Old Students Association (MOSA) is making a significant impact by supporting less privileged students at Mudawarima Primary and Secondary School in Chikomba East Constituency, demonstrating their commitment to giving back to the community.

In an interview with Vhayeya.com at the sidelines of the constituency celebrations at Mudawarima Primary School on Friday, March 8, 2024, Mr Ngoni Progress Jemwa, current Chairman of the Mudawarima Old Students Association (MOSA) said the organization was established in 2020 with the goal of bringing together former students of the school and helping to improve the school and the surrounding community.

“MOSA was founded to unite former students of Mudawarima and provide them with a platform to give back to their alma mater and the wider community,” said Mr Jemwa.

Jemwa added that the association is open to anyone who is ready to collaborate with them in their efforts to create a beneficial influence on the education and welfare of the students at Mudawarima Primary and Secondary School.

“Our association is open to everyone who is willing to partner with us in our mission to make a positive impact on the education and well-being of the students in Mudawarima Primary and Secondary School,” added Jemwa.

Mr Jemwa expressed that funding poses a challenge for the association.

“We are facing a challenge with funding. While we are raising funds through pledges and donations, it’s not sufficient given the high level of needs. However, we do receive donations from former students who are abroad but we need more funding,” said Jemwa.

Jemwa expressed his happiness with Hon Mhona’s visit to the school.

“I am delighted with Hon Mhona’s visit to the school. The Honourable Minister and MP For Chikomba East Constituency has promised to chip in with development programs and I would like to thank him. Being here on the ground he has seen and heard the needs of the schools and as an organization we are looking forward to work with him,” he said.

He mentioned that the association had been able to purchase approximately 300 books and had also covered the school fees for a number of students.

“We have managed to purchase approximately 300 books and have also covered the school fees for a number of students. I would like to give credit to the association for the donations since 2020,” Jemwa revealed.

He encouraged the community to stand for themselves, plough back and develop their area.

“I encourage the community, former students to plough back to the community. We are the bona-fide students, we are the people of the constituency and our schools and no one will come to develop the area if we do not do it ourselves, I repeat no one,” he said.

Honourable Felix Tapiwa Mhona during his address echoed Jemwa’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of locals contributing to the development of their area and providing support to those in need.

“It is crucial for the locals to actively participate in the development of our area and to support those in need,” said Honourable Felix Tapiwa Mhona.

He acknowledged the organizations work and vision and thanked them for their philanthropic work.

“I thank Mr Jemwa and his association members for the good work they are doing here at Mudawarima Primary and Secondary Schools. His presence (Mr Jemwa) here today shows that they are committed and willing to plough back to the community. My office will work with them and I believe that we are going to achieve a lot,” said Hon Mhona.

The students of Mudawarima Primary and Secondary School delivered brilliant and exciting traditional dance performances, captivating the crowd with their talent and enthusiasm during the Constituency celebrations.
