The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has expressed its deepest sorrow following Harare-Nyamapanda and Harare-Mutare Highways accidents which resulted in loss of life and injuries.
A Press Statement has been released by the Ministry today.
“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development expresses its deepest sorrow following two tragic road traffic crashes on Wednesday, 17 December 2025,” read the statement.
“At the 185km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road, ten people lost their lives in a head-on collision. On the Harare-Mutare Road, at the 32,5km, three more people perished and and fifteen others were injured when a commuter omnibus overturned after a tyre burst. Survivors are receiving medical care, and the ministry is monitoring their recovery.
“On behalf of the Ministry and Government, we extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” said the Ministry.
The statement urged motorists to adhere to road rules this festive season.
“As the festive season approaches, these tragedies are a reminder to all transport operators, motorists and the public to strictly observe road traffic rules.
“Overloading and reckless driving will not be tolerated, and the Ministry will intensify enforcement to safeguard the commuting public. The Second Republic remains committed to strengthening road safety through robust legal, policy and administrative measures,” the statement said.
