Highlanders Football Club has formally announced the appointment of former Zimbabwe international Benjani Mwaruwari as the new head coach of the senior team, marking a significant change in the club’s technical setup ahead of the 2026 season.

In a statement released today, the club said it is delighted to confirm the appointment of Benjani Mwaruwari as the senior team Head Coach, describing the former striker as a respected figure and legend of the game who is highly qualified.

Highlanders said Mwaruwari brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a deep understanding of the game as the club embarks on what it termed an exciting new trajectory.

The appointment comes as Bosso looks to rebuild and strengthen its technical department in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Club officials indicated that the current announcement is the first of several changes expected within the coaching department.

“Further announcements regarding the full coaching structure and additional appointments will be communicated in due course,” the club said.

Highlanders also took the opportunity to acknowledge the backing of its fan base and partners during the transition period, thanking its loyal supporters and stakeholders for their unwavering support.

The Bulawayo giants said they are now focused on laying the foundations for success, adding that they look forward to the journey ahead as they build towards a strong and competitive 2026 season.

Mwaruwari, a former Premier League striker who enjoyed a distinguished playing career in Europe and captained Zimbabwe at international level, takes over at a time of high expectation from the Bosso faithful as the club seeks a return to domestic glory.
