President Emmerson Mnangagwa has named former Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) commander Retired Lieutenant General David Sigauke as the new ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, replacing Johannes Tomana who died August last year.

Retired Lieutenant Sigauke was promoted to ZNA commander in 2021 following the passing of his predecessor and National Hero, Lt-Gen Edzai Chimonyo.

He however retired from the army last year and Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe who was the ambassador to Tanzania replaced him as the commander of the ZNA.

President Mnangagwa has also appointed deputy Clerk of Parliament Helen Bangawe Dingani as ambassador to the Republic of Tanzania.

Dingani has also served as a deputy clerk at the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).

Furthermore, Visitor Jerry Mutume was appointed Ambassador to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

The new deployments were announced in a government gazette by the Chief Secretary to President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya.

“It is hereby notified that His Excellency, the President in terms of Section 110 (2) (i) as read with Section 204 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, appointed Lt. General David Sigauke as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic Democratic of Congo (DRC); Ms Helen Bangawe Dingani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania and Mr Visitor Jerry Mutume Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea,” said chief secretary to President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya in a government gazette.
