MURAMBINDA – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has assured the nation that the Zimbabwean government will take all necessary measures to ensure food security, despite declaring a national disaster due to poor rains this season.

Speaking to a huge crowd at Murambinda B Secondary School yesterday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa reassured the nation that Zimbabwe’s 44th Independence Day celebration was a testament to the country’s continued progress and prosperity.

“I declared a state of disaster two weeks ago, and various departments are working tirelessly to ensure that no one will starve this season,” said President Mnangagwa amid a thunderous applause from the crowd.

President Mnangagwa revealed that Zimbabwe has introduced a new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold currency (ZiG), to promote economic stability and growth in the country.

President Mnangagwa’s entourage included the First Lady Dr Amai Auxilia Mnangagwa, Vice Presidents General Rtd CGN Chiwenga and Colonel Rtd KDC Mohadi, and a host of government ministers, all of whom joined him at the Independence Day celebration in Murambinda.

The historic significance of the Independence Day celebration in Murambinda, the first to be held in Manicaland, was evident as it transformed the town’s landscape, marking a significant milestone for both the province and the country as a whole.

Next year’s Independence Day celebrations will take place in Midlands Province, continuing the tradition of rotating the event among the country’s provinces.
