The four semi-finalists for the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup have been confirmed following the conclusion of the quarter-final stage Today, with Herentals, FC Platinum and Scottland joining FC Hunters in the last four.
At Chahwanda Stadium, Herentals edged Hardrock 6-5 on penalties after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Ralph Kawondera put the Students ahead in the 11th minute before Washington Navaya restored parity for the hosts in the 36th minute.
With neither side able to find a winner, the tie was decided from the spot, where Herentals prevailed 6-5.
At Luveve Stadium, FC Platinum produced a convincing 3-0 victory over Blanket Mine FC.
Jarisoni Selemani opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half before Emmanuel Dogbey took centre stage after the break, scoring twice to complete a comfortable victory for the Zvishavane side.
Meanwhile, at Rufaro Stadium, Scottland and Bulawayo Chiefs could not be separated after 90 minutes, with the match ending goalless.
Scottland eventually secured a 5-4 victory in the penalty shootout to book their place in the last four.
However, Scottland’s semi-final place remains uncertain following a disciplinary case involving the alleged use of an ineligible player.
The club was charged by the Premier Soccer League for allegedly fielding Witbeen Stoffel in their Chibuku Super Cup Round of 16 match against FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium on 14 August.
The outcome of the disciplinary proceedings could determine whether Scottland remain in the competition or face disqualification.
With the quarter-finals now complete, the scheduled semi-final line-up is FC Platinum against FC Hunters, while Herentals are set to face Scottland.
The focus now shifts to the disciplinary proceedings, with Scottland’s participation in the semi-finals hanging in the balance.
