Addressing the gathering at Nyamanyora Primary school, Ward 3 yesterday, Honourable Musweweshiri (MP) thanked the people of Mudzi North for voting for him, Zanu-PF Councillors and the President during the August 2023 elections.

“Thank you all for resoundingly voting for me and the Zanu-PF party in the August 2023 elections.

“Mudzi is known for supporting Zanu-PF and here in Mudzi North we won resoundingly, and we thank you for that,” he said.

In addition, Hon Musweweshiri (MP) highlighted that his office is open to everyone.

“Everyone is welcome in my office, and I am committed to implementing servant leadership for the betterment of our community.

“We are going to work hand in hand with the councilors in Mudzi North so that no one and no place is left behind,” said Hon Musweweshiri (MP).

Addressing the issue of food challenges in Mudzi North, he said the government is committed to make sure that no one is going to die of hunger.

“The government has declared zero tolerance to hunger, and we all know that this season there is drought.

“Mudzi area is known for receiving minimum rainfall and this year it is worse because of the El Niño-induced drought.

“Therefore, the government has declared zero tolerance to hunger, recently Minister Daniel Garwe signed a joint appeal for food aid to the International Community with Mr Edward Kallon, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator.

“The appeal aims to mobilize humanitarian action to complement the Government’s own relief efforts.

“We are going to work with the local leadership to identify those in dire need, but everyone will benefit,” he said.

Speaking at the same event, Mudzi DCC Chairman Cde Mudyiwa Mashonganyika said the election season was over and it is now time for development.

“Election season came and those who won are now in office.

“It is now time for development, and I implore those elected to be the People’s servants.

“These people gathered here are the bosses and you must save them diligently, that is why we are here to thank them,” he said.

Furthermore, Cde Mashonganyika called for unity within the party, particularly Mudzi North.

“I urge you to be united, from councillors to the MP so that you can achieve the goal of serving these people.

“Gossiping divides the constituency and the party at large.

“Mudzi is a Zanu-PF stronghold, and the party must not die in your hands,” said Cde Mashonganyika.

DCC Chairman Mashonganyika also highlighted that the government is making efforts to make sure no one dies of hunger.

“The President and government are making frantic efforts to make sure that food is available to everyone.

“On Thursday the President instructed our Provincial Minister for Devolution Senator Munzverengwi at Makumimavi to make sure that no one dies of hunger in Mashonaland East,” he said.

Mudzi Rural District Council Chairperson Cde Arnold Katsande who was also present thanked the voters for their support.

He started by thanking Ward 3 for meeting their obligation to pay council bills.

“In terms of remitting to Council you are on second position out of 22 Wards, and I commend you for that,” he said.

He went on to highlight several projects Mudzi RDC is partaking in the community.

“Today Nyamanyora is going to receive cement for developing infrastructure at Nyamanyora Secondary.

“Through these funds we are rehabilitating Rukonde dam and constructing toilets at Rukonde Primary.
