ZINARA donated medical equipment to Chivhu General Hospital yesterday, a move aimed at capacitating the hospital to quickly respond to accidents along the Harare-Masvingo highway.

Through ZINARA’s corporate social program, they have been touring the country, donating medical supplies, they started with Matabeleland.

Last month, they were in Gwanda, continuing their “We Care” project.

Chivhu General Hospital received standard hospital stretcher beds, medical oxygen humidifiers, multiparameter monitors with stands, laryngoscopes, pediatric wheelchairs, adult wheelchairs, ultrasound scan machines, and more.

The Board Chairman of ZINARA, Dr. George Manyaya highlighted that through the funds collected from toll fees, they aim to give back to the community, guided by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development.

“We have been touring the country to ensure that we capacitate hospitals, enabling them to respond to accidents effectively. Sometimes, our hospitals cannot perform certain procedures due to a lack of basic equipment like ultrasound scans, but today, we have donated some,” he said.

Dr. Manyaya added, “Through the toll fees we collect, we will continue with our corporate social program. We want to thank His Excellency Dr. Mnangagwa for ensuring that all parastatals can undertake such initiatives and Hon. Mhona for guiding and supporting these programs.”

Chief Maromo, the resident chief of the area, appreciated ZINARA’s noble cause to Chivhu.

“As the chief of this area, l wants to thank ZINARA. Medical equipment like ultrasound scans will prove useful, as no one will be turned away without receiving assistance,” said Chief Maromo.

He also appealed for the expansion of the Chivhu General Hospital Mortuary.

Chivhu General Hospital, located along the Harare-Masvingo highway, frequently assists accident victims along the highway and accidents victims from Beatrice and Mvuma are always referred to Chivhu.

The handing-over ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth Development Hon.T. Machaikaire, Minister for ICT, Postal, and Courier Services Hon. T. Mavetera, Minister for Provincial Affairs Hon. Itai Ndudzo and other government officials.
