Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Hon. Kudakwashe Mupamhanga has continued his district outreach programme, thanking constituents for electing him as Member of Parliament in the 2023 elections while promoting youth engagement through sport.
The latest gathering, held at Nyajenje Primary School in Mount Darwin South, featured the Bhuru Dzvuku Tournament, an initiative aimed at raising awareness of drug and substance abuse while providing young people with opportunities to participate in organised sporting activities.
Since 2024, Mupamhanga has been visiting political districts to express his gratitude to the electorate, with the programme intended to cover all 23 political districts. Each gathering incorporates a funded tournament in which young people compete, combining community engagement with efforts to encourage positive youth participation.
The outreach meetings also provide residents with an opportunity to meet Mupamhanga face to face and raise concerns affecting their communities. The engagements offer a platform for direct interaction between the legislator and constituents, allowing residents to communicate their views and issues in person.
Mupamhanga was elected Member of Parliament for Mount Darwin South in 2023 before being appointed Deputy Minister by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. He was subsequently appointed chairperson of the District Coordinating Committee (DCC).
The Bhuru Dzvuku Tournament has been progressing across the districts, with the latest games marking the quarter-final stage as participating teams move closer to the end-of-year finals.
Through the combination of sport and community engagement, the initiative seeks to keep young people involved in constructive activities while creating opportunities to raise awareness of the dangers of drug and substance abuse.
The programme is expected to continue across the districts. Next year as he aims to finish all districts.
