National Hero Cde Edward Raradza will be buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare tomorrow, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa expected to preside over the proceedings.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage confirmed the burial arrangements in a statement, saying the late national hero will be laid to rest on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
“His Excellency, the President, Cde Dr E. D. Mnangagwa will preside over this burial,” the ministry said.
Cde Raradza’s remains were today airlifted from Charles Gumbo Barracks to his Mawari Farm in Centenary, Mashonaland Central, where a provincial send-off ceremony was held.
The ceremony gave people in the province an opportunity to pay their last respects to the late national hero, whom the ministry described as a Great Son of the Soil.
The remains were returned back at Charles Gumbo Barracks at 1600 hours before being taken to his Mount Pleasant Heights residence, where he will lie in state ahead of tomorrow’s burial.
Burial proceedings will commence at 0700 hours, with members of the public invited to attend and give Cde Raradza a befitting farewell.
“Members of the public are invited to come in their numbers to give a befitting farewell to this illustrious Son of the Soil,” the ministry said.
Cde Raradza was declared a National Hero in recognition of his contribution to the country.
