Scottland FC have strengthened their squad with the signing of five new players as the ambitious Harare club steps up preparations for both the domestic campaign and its forthcoming African Safari competition assignment.
The new arrivals include Nigerian defender Al-Ameen Kehinde Tijani from Shooting Stars, Namibian winger Stoffel Witbeen from Okahandja United, Cameroonian striker Neville Tengeg from Indonesia’s Deltras FC, Brazilian winger Anderson Cardoso de Campos from Pouso Alegre, and Zimbabwean midfielder Seth Patrick, who joins from English side Royston Town.
The reinforcements come at a crucial stage of the season as Scottland seek to maintain momentum in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League while assembling a competitive squad capable of representing Zimbabwe in the African Safari tournament.
The new signings could make their first appearance when Scottland host MWOS in the headline Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Week 26 fixture at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.
Elsewhere, Chicken Inn welcome Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve Stadium, ZPC Kariba entertain Dynamos at Nyamhunga Stadium, FC Platinum face league leaders Simba Bhora at Mandava Stadium, Triangle United host FC Hunters at Gibbo Stadium, Agama take on Ngezi Platinum at Wadzanayi Stadium, while Hardrock battle Manica Diamonds at Chahwanda Stadium.
The weekend’s fixtures conclude on Sunday with a potentially explosive encounter between CAPS United and Highlanders at Rufaro Stadium.
The match comes under contrasting circumstances for the two traditional giants.
CAPS United continue to battle inconsistency as they search for improved results, while Highlanders travel to Harare still mourning the tragic loss of club chairman Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Fiso Siziba and treasurer Nkani Khoza, who recently died in a road traffic accident.
Their passing has cast a sombre mood over the Bulawayo giants, with players expected to honour the departed executives as they seek a positive result against the Green Machine.
With the title race intensifying and every point proving crucial, Week 26 promises another round of high-stakes action across the country’s top-flight league, with Scottland’s revamped squad expected to be among the major talking points.
