The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has commenced the issuance of a Local Police Clearance Certificate, identified as ZRP Form 143 (yellow copy), as part of efforts to improve service delivery and meet local demand for police clearance services.
In a press statement released on Monday, the ZRP said the new certificate will be issued to companies and organisations and is strictly for use within Zimbabwe.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police advises members of the public that it has commenced the issuance of a Local Police Clearance Certificate, ZRP Form 143, which is identifiable by its yellow colour,” the statement reads.
According to the police, the Local Police Clearance Certificate will be processed in the same manner as the International Police Clearance Certificate, ZRP Form 143A.
However, no vetted fingerprints will be released to applicants.
“As such, no vetted fingerprints will be released to the fingerprint bearer,” the ZRP said, adding that the certificate is not intended for international use.
The police noted that the introduction of the new clearance certificate is part of ongoing reforms within the organisation aimed at improving efficiency and responsiveness.
“The introduction of the Local Police Clearance Certificate forms part of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery, enhance operational efficiency and respond to the needs of the public in accessing police clearance services for local purposes,” the statement said.
The ZRP further clarified that fees for police clearance certificates remain unchanged.
A normal application costs US$5.00 and will be processed within seven days, while an urgent application costs US$10.00 and will be processed within three days.
Members of the public have been encouraged to seek further information from their nearest police stations.
“Members of the public are encouraged to visit their nearest police station for further guidance and clarification regarding the application process and the appropriate type of police clearance certificate to apply for,” the statement said.
