The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon Advocate Felix Tapiwa Mhona, is today expected to officially open the completed section of Mazowe Road from Christon Bank to BlueRidge Shops to traffic.
The commissioning ceremony will be held at BlueRidge Shops this morning, with the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland Central, Christopher Magomo, also scheduled to attend.
According to the programme released by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, proceedings will begin with the arrival of guests followed by a prayer, introductions and welcome remarks by Hon. Magomo.
A project brief will outline the scope and significance of the works undertaken on the stretch linking Christon Bank and BlueRidge Shops, which is expected to improve traffic flow, safety and access for communities and businesses.
Hon. Mhona will then deliver the keynote address before leading a tour of the upgraded section and officially opening Mazowe Road to traffic.
The Ministry is also undertaking a number of road rehabilitation projects across the country as part of the national infrastructure modernisation drive, including works at the Mabvuku Interchange and along the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road, among others.
