Opposition elements early this week engaged in propaganda onslaught against steel giant Dinson located in Manhize between Chikomba and Mvuma districts as they desperately try to paint a negative picture of the massive steel plant ahead of the Sadc Summit.

In a bid to scuttle the expected SaDC Industrialisation Week (SIW) visit to the Chinese firm on 2 August 2024, the anti government media outlets claimed that 19 people had died at the plant due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Company authorities dismissed this in an interview with Vhayeya saying no such incident has happened at the steel plant.

Investigations conducted by this publication revealed that there were injuries to 3 employees on separate occassions as a result of accidents during test runs of the blast furnaces last month which is common at such stages of the steel production process but never has there been any incident of deaths at the plant

The ZRP Spokesperson Comm Paul Themba Nyati also dismissed the story.

” We have spoken to the management of the company there is no such report and indeed people are advised not to take seriously any social media messages, the story isn’t true” said Comm Nyati in a brief interview with vhayeya.com.

Meanwhile Chikomba RDC Chairman Cde Israel Dhikinya condemned the story, its source and people who forward such messages on social media.

” There is no such occurrence at the steel plant .As a council we are very excited that the company is just about to produce full throttle and as you may want to know more and more of our youths are getting employed in various areas and we are happy .I think people should desist from creating such reckless stories and also the public should be worry of unofficial sources and as Chikomba we say if vhayeya.com did not say it then its fake.

” We know the opposition is now dead here but some remnants who benefit from some NGOs that are fighting our development agenda under the President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa and his assumption of the SADC Chairmanship are trying to scuttle our progress but Zimbabweans are now wise ” said Dhikinya.

Meanwhile vhayeya.com continues to advise the public to avoid spreading news from unofficial sources and encourage people to continue following stories on its various platforms as its journalists are not just qualified but credible .
