The NHS (National Handling Services) handed over a fully furnished ECD Block to Majaji Primary School in Bubi yesterday, the sixth school to have gained through its corporate responsibility in giving back to the community.

The Board Chairman of NHS Advocate Godwin Nyengedza highlighted that they are running with President Mnangagwa’s mantra of not leaving anyone behind through their corporate social responsibility program.

“Today, we officially commission this beautiful classroom block, along with the desks and chairs within it, generously donated to Majiji Primary School by the National Handling Services (NHS) as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program. As His Excellency, President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa often reminds us, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo / Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo” a nation is built by its own people. What we witness here today is a reflection of that spirit, “he said.

He added the importance of education and availing the right conditions to transform children educational experiences.

“At NHS, we understand that learning in a safe, well-equipped environment seated at proper desks, free from overcrowding or dilapidated conditions can transform a child’s educational experience.

“It sends a powerful message, this classroom block stands as a testament to our belief in the potential of every child at Majiji Primary School,” he said.

Majiji Primary School has 863 pupils and was dire need of an ECD block at school and still needs more assistance in rebuilding the school.

The headmistress thanked NHS for the handover and for taking into consideration schools in the outskirts where there’s limited resources.

She also appealed to the authorities for more teachers as the school is short staffed to the extent of having 56 pupils in a single class as opposed to the recommended 40 pupils.

Member of Parliament of Bubi Constituency, Hon. Simelisizwe Sibanda welcomed the development, saying the construction of the block would improve the school pass rate.

“Commissioning of this ECD Block is going to easy a lot of pressure and also assist a lot of kids, especially the ECD. We really appreciate this by having this classroom block it is going to make learning easier, “he said.

Hon Sibanda  also thanked HE Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa for continuing to champion development under his mantra of leaving noone and no place behind and also donated  some cement and  school uniforms in a program that he has rolled out for every school his constituency.

The NHS which is a parastatal under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has been carrying out different corporate social responsibility programs across the country, and Matabeleland North is the sixth province to have benefited from their initiative.
