Like a cat, Rodwell Dhlakama has many lives at Green Fuel, as he has been appointed Head Coach again, replacing Taurai Mangwiro, who had been said to have been elevated to the role of Technical Advisor.

Green Fuel has since issued a press statement clarifying the new developments and confirming Rodwell Dhlakama’s appointment as Head Coach, amidst the changes in the team’s technical staff.

“Green Fuel Football Club wishes to inform all football stakeholders and supporters that strategic changes have been made to the club’s technical team in an effort to strenghthen our performance and technical capabilities.

“Rodwell Dhlakama has been appointed as Head Coach of Green Fuel Football Club with immediate effect. His contract will run until the end of the 2025 PSL Football Season,” said the statement.

The press statement further clarified that Taurai Mangwiro will now occupy the Technical Director role until the end of the season.

“Tawurayi Mangwiro, who was previously serving as Head Coach, has been elevated to the role of Technical Director, also effective immediately, until the conclusion of the 2025 PSL Football Season. All other members of the Technical team will continue in their current roles and will continue to serve the club with the same dedication and proffesionalism,” Green Fuel said.
The press statement concluded by welcoming back the “nomad” Rodwell Dhlakama, in reference to his multiple stints at the helm, back as the Head Coach of Green Fuel.

Rodwell Dhlakama’s appointment as Green Fuel’s Head Coach comes after Green Fuel’s humiliating 5-1 loss to Triangle over the weekend, marking a significant turnaround in the team’s fortunes, although recent reports indicate he was previously sacked by the team in April 2024 following a 3-0 defeat to CAPS United.

The current development seems to be a re-appointment, which might signal a fresh start for both Dhlakama and Green Fuel.

Green Fuel currently occupies the 12th position with 19 points.

Meanwhile, fading Bulawayo giants Highlanders have dismissed Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu, also known as KK, as head coach with immediate effect, in a bid to revive the team’s fortunes.

Bosso released a press statement confirming the dismissal of head coach Kelvin Kaindu, thanking him for his services and wishing him well in his future endeavors.

“Highlanders Football Club would like to inform its stakeholders of the following changes in its Technical Team with immediate effect.

“The club has parted ways with head coach Kelvin Kaindu. First Assistant Coach Try Ncube will, in the interim, head the Technical team, assisted by second assistant coach Agent Sawu. The rest of the Technical team will remain with their roles,” read the statement from Bosso.

Highlanders’ management made the coaching change due to the team’s poor performance.

“The above channels have been necessitated by the recent streak of unsatisfactory results. The club wishes coach Kaindu the best in his future endervours and thanks him for his contribution during his time of service,” said Bosso.

Kelvin Kaindu’s dismissal marks the end of his second spell at Highlanders, as he previously worked with the Bosso during a previous tenure before being reappointed.

Highlanders are currently on 9th position on the log table after 17 games, accumulating 23 points.

CAPS United and Dynamos have also shuffled their technical benches this season, reflecting a trend of coaching changes in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League as teams strive to improve their fortunes.

For CAPS United, the coaching change seems to be paying off, as Ian Bakala’s side has impressively climbed out of the relegation zone to 11th position.
