Bijour farm incident perpetrators facing criminal charges

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) released a statement yesterday following an incident that happened at Bijour farm in lower Gweru on the 21st of January 2025 involving a Chinese national.

The ZRP Commissioner Paul Nyathi, in a statement, said the police is investigating the incident.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating an assault and pointing of a firearm incident which occurred at Bijour Farm, Lower Gweru, Midlands Province on 21st January 2025.

“Kholwani Dube (38) stabbed a Chinese national with a opaki knife on the leg after a labour dispute while the Chinese national pointed a firearm at Kholwani Dube. Both the Zimbabwean and Chinese national are facing criminal charges,” he said

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they had arrested a Chinese national after he shot a Zimbabwean national.

“Mthahandazo Sibanda (20) was shot with a 9mm Derya Pistol by a Chinese national while allegedly stealing gold dump at Binyup 5 Mine, Filabusi on 22nd January 2025. Police have since arrested the Chinese national,” he said.
