The Chikomba East teams selected to participate in this year’s Unity Challenge Cup will be provided with best practising facilities, the Mp for the Constituency as well as Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Hon Felix Tapiwa Mhona has disclosed.

Speaking to thevhayeya.com yesterday and after the announcement of the teams Hon Mhona reiterated that sport should be taken as an employment and hence taken seriously.

” We will try by all means to afford the teams` best possible preparations We have deliberately seen it important to invest in sports in our Constituency so that we promote healthy living ,fight drug abuse just as we all know that our Great leader His Excellency Cde Dr Emerson Mnangagwa is calling upon everyone to fight this scourge  and menace amongst our youths ,as well as ensure that the youths who have got talent realise their potential and derive some income out of it.

” So just as we announced at Duvhurwi during our tournament this year we are like to have Wedza North and South coming to join us as Chikomba West and East and that will make the competition tougher thus we will have to prepare enough,” said Hon Mhona.

Last year the Unity Day Challenge Cup as launched in Chivhu and Chikomba West won in Soccer while Chikomba East managed to win in netball.

This year will likely be more competitive as more teams will be participating.

Chikomba East teams had their Hon FT Mhona Tournament at Chodo and winning teams went home richer with the Soccer champions in both men and women Masasa getting home 4000 as both their teams won the finals and got 2000 each.

The runner ups got $1500 each while the netball champions  Gokomere Ward 20 got $1300 and the runners up Ward 15 got $800.

Meanwhile Hon Mhona also promised to take the Chikomba East team to play at one or two teams from any other Constituency to prepare for the 22 December 2025 Unity Cup.
