Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani is set to make his debut in South Africa’s premier T20 franchise competition after being signed by Joburg Super Kings for the fifth season of the Betway SA20.
The Zimbabwe international was picked up for 500,000 South African rand during the player auction held in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
Muzarabani’s acquisition strengthens the Super Kings’ bowling department as the franchise prepares for the upcoming campaign, which begins on 17 January 2027.
The towering fast bowler brings considerable experience in international and franchise cricket, having featured in major T20 competitions, including the Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League.
His ability to generate bounce and extract movement makes him an important addition to the Joburg outfit as they seek to challenge for the SA20 title.
Muzarabani will join a star-studded squad that includes former South African captain Faf du Plessis, West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard and promising South African youngster Jason Rowles, who emerged as the most expensive player at the auction after being signed for 2.9 million rand.
The move represents another opportunity for the Zimbabwean pace spearhead to showcase his skills against some of the world’s leading T20 players while gaining further experience in a competitive franchise environment.
The fifth edition of the SA20 gets underway on 17 January 2027, with defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape hosting Pretoria Capitals at St George’s Park in Gqeberha. The final is scheduled for 21 February at Newlands in Cape Town.
Muzarabani’s signing will be closely followed by Zimbabwean cricket supporters, who will be hoping the fast bowler makes a significant impact in one of the region’s leading franchise competitions.
