A new Zimbabwean feature film tackling cultural divisions through a cross-cultural love story will premiere at Ster-Kinekor, Joina City, on July 4.

The new film, Sizolobola tells the story of Njabulo Mzilikazi and Makatendeka Seke, two young Zimbabweans who meet and fall in love in South Africa but face family opposition rooted in long-standing tensions, misunderstandings, and unresolved grievances when they plan to marry.

Producers describe the film as a human story about the power of love to bridge differences, heal wounds, and bring people together rather than a political work.

The cast includes social media personality Madam Boss as Makatendeka Seke and Exult Ncube as Njabulo Mzilikazi.

They star alongside Jesesi Mungoshi, Madlela Skhobokhobo, Charles Muzemba, Antony Tongani, Annie Bridget Paradza, and Stephen Chigorimbo, bringing together established and emerging Zimbabwean talent.

According to the film’s media brief, the movie encourages Zimbabweans from all backgrounds to focus on what unites them and celebrates the richness of Zimbabwe’s diverse cultures.

“Sizolobola encourages Zimbabweans from all backgrounds to focus on what unites rather than divides them and celebrates the richness of Zimbabwe’s diverse cultures while promoting understanding, tolerance, peace and national cohesion.”

The film poses the question: “Can love conquer all?” and, through the couple’s journey, offers a hopeful answer.

The premiere will be held at Ster-Kinekor, Joina City, on Friday, July 4, at 5:30 PM. The film is backed by Africin.

_SIZOLOBOLA_ positions itself as a celebration of love, family, culture, forgiveness, and the enduring belief that unity is possible when people choose understanding over division.
