Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi visited Murambinda Primary School yesterday to inspect the preparations for the 44th Independence celebrations.

Vice President Mohadi expressed confidence that all the necessary preparations will be completed by April 16th.

“We chose Murambinda as the site for this year’s celebrations, and from what we have seen here today, we are confident that everything will be ready by April 16th,” said Vice President Mohadi.

In addition, VP Mohadi noted that the main concern was the condition of the roads leading to the venue.

In response, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Honourable Mhona assured VP Mohadi that all the road construction work would be completed in time for the celebrations.

“There are few areas that needs to be attended to, a few feeder roads to the venue.

“The Minister of Transport is here and the Engineer is here and is saying by the 16th everything will be done,” said Hon Mhona.

Likewise, Hon Mugadza, the Minister of State and Devolution for Manicaland, said that preparations for the Independence Celebrations were well underway.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Vice President Mohadi for his leadership and guidance in ensuring that the Independence Celebrations are a success.

“The roads are nearly complete, the school blocks have been refurbished, and the football pitch is ready, with only minor work remaining,” said Hon Mugadza.

Furthermore, Hon Mugadza stated that the only remaining task was to mobilize people, and he vowed to bring at least 70,000 people from his province of Manicaland.

“As Manicaland what we are now left with is to mobilize, we want 70 000 people here and we want to assure you that we are going to have 70 000 plus.

“People are geared for this event, the moral is high everyone can not wait, Manicaland is the province that had a lot of freedom fighters who went to war and there were more battles that were fought in Manicaland.

“At Dzapasi we are going to assemble there to receive the torch and there is going to be a function there, and eventually the flame will be taken to this venue”, he said.

Last year’s Independence celebrations were held in Mt Darwin.

The Second Republic has made it a priority to develop infrastructure throughout all provinces of the country by hosting the Independence celebrations in different locations each year.
