Rainfall or no rainfall people of Zimbabwe will be fed

Rainfall or no rainfall the President has assured that the people of Zimbabwe will be fed.

The President of Zimbabwe and SADC Chairman H.E Emmerson Mnangangwa  has assured the nation that the government is prepared to feed all people irregardless of having seasonal rainfall or not.

He was represented by ZANU PF Secretary General Obert Mpofu at the Zion Christian Church Kudzaka Gomo conference held at Mbungo Estates in Bikita, today,

In his speech President Mnangangwa also assured the nation that his Government is working on measures to mitigate drought by constructing massive dam projects.

”Government is working on measures to make dam projects.

”The last agriculture season was affected by the Elnino drought, however due to the preparedness and forward thinking of our government we managed to deter what could have been a disastrous season.

”We must experience a successful rain season to become a fully thriving nation in line with Vision 2030 of becoming an Upper Middle Income Economy,” read President Mnangagwa’s speech.

In line with the President’s vision, the Zion Christian Church has been supportive in imparting skills to youths through various skill related courses which has seen many church youths around the country attending an advance course.

The advance course comprises skills training, plumbing, building, eletrician, hairdressing, agriculture and construction cementing the vocational training schools built by the church

President Mnangangwa also commented the Church’s agricultural projects which have also helped in food production.

”I would like to comment the ZCC for its significant contribution to agriculture particularly in the maize and Winter wheat,” he said.

Speaking at the same conference, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Development for Masvingo Hon. Ezra Chadzamira nodded that food security was enough for Masvingo province.

”Food distribution is ongoing across the province.

”As we pray for rains the Pfumvudza has been adapted from 2020 to mitigate climate change problems,” Minister Chadzamira added.

ZCC leader His Grace Bishop N.S. Mutendi also hailed government efforts.

”We want to thank the Government for building dams and drilling boreholes for water,” he said.

He further refrenced biblical verses, 1 Kings 18 v 18 and Zakaria 10 v 1.

”We all believe that if people gather like this to pray God will bless us with rain.

”There is no peace with no rainfall.

”We ask for rain during the seasons of rain,” he said.

The ZCC Kudzaka Gomo conference saw a multitude of thousands congregants ferried through carpeted infrastructure roads from various parts of the country.

Over 300 buses and private vehicles thronged the Mbungo Estates.

Several government officials present included Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Development Hon. Chadzamira, Chief Council President Hon. Khumalo, Vapositori for ED Madzibaba Moses Gwazura, 11 Chiefs including Chief Ruzane, Chief Banga, Chief Zimuto, Chief Nhema and 13 headmans among other traditional leaders from SADC countries.
