The consultations on the Road Accident Fund Bill, which seeks to assist victims of road accidents, were held in Gwanda on the second day of the engagements being held by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development to gather views from stakeholders and the public.
The consultations were held at Cazalet and have seen several key stakeholders within the Matebeleland South coming in to give their input.
Speaking to the gathering, the Managing Director of the Traffic Safety Council Of Zimbabwe who read the speech on behalf of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Of Transport and Infrastructural Development Eng Joy Pedzisai Makumbe encouraged the attendees to fully participate in the programme.
“We believe you are going to feel free to participate in the process so as to ensure your views are captured, and that will make the Road Accident Fund Act a perfect piece of legislation that we all want,” said Mr Munodawafa.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Hon F.T Mhona’s speech was read by ZTSC Vice Board Chair Madam Lizwe Bhunu.
These consultations come at a time the nation has been plunged into mourning following the death of over 40 people in South Africa.
The President of Zimbabwe Cde, Dr E.D Mnangagwa conveyed a condolence message to the victim’s families yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Local Government Hon Daniel Garwe is set to address a press conference regarding the Limpopo bus accident victims today.
The public consultations will continue tomorrow in Gweru at Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe offices and concludes on Thursday in Chinhoyi at Roman Catholic Cathedral.
