Amid a boardroom attempt to dislodge Citizens Against Economic Sanctions (CAES) founder Martin Dudley Zharare over allegations of misappropriating funds meant for the sanctions-fighting organisation, CAES National Secretary for Information and Publicity, Councillor Simphiwe Vuyelwa Mguni, has urged members to remain focused, saying internal structures are handling the current crisis.

Speaking to thevhayeya.com, Mguni said, “CAES is committed to proper governance and due process. Any matters relating to executive positions are being addressed in accordance with our procedures. We are currently encouraging members to continue with their work and disregard unverified reports.”

CAES, an organisation founded by Mr Zharare to add a voice to the fight against economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by Western countries, has hit a rocky patch as infighting among some of its top leadership threatens to tear the organisation apart.

Zharare himself promised to provide more information to this publication but insisted that no one would take CAES away from him.

“CAES is my organisation, I founded it. I am yet to fully register it as a PVO, and those who think they can elbow me out using unverified allegations are out of order.

“We urge all CAES members across the country to remain focused on the task of removing the sanctions burden from the shoulders of Zimbabweans,” he said.
