The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development will today start public engagements to gather stakeholder input on the Road Accident Fund, starting with a consultation at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo.

The consultation will be moving to Gwanda tomorrow, Gweru at the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe offices Wednesday and Chinhoyi at the Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, with members of the public being invited.

The consultations will be starting at 10am according to the notice.

The ministry gave a notice of the consultations in a public notice seen by thevhayeya.com.

“The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development hereby invites all members of the public to participate in stakeholder consultations on the proposed Road Accident Fund Bill,” read the statement, adding that the public must seize the opportunity to contribute its views and help shape the important registration.

The government has been seeking, over the years, to provide support to victims of road accidents, targeting not just the casualties but also their dependents, and the bill, once passed into law, will go a long way in addressing concerns related to road crashes.

Cabinet gave the green light earlier this year, thus paving the way for the enactment process.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Felix Tapiwa Mhona, will deliver a speech, highlighting the importance of the engagements to the government.

The Press Release concluded by advising those in need for more information to contact Ms Judith Nhau, Communications on judith.nhau83@gmail.com, Advocate Kingstone Magaya, Legal Advisor on kingstonemagaya@gmail.com and Ruvimbo Chanduru, Deputy Legal Advisor on ruvimbo.chanduru@gmail.com.
