A couple riding a motorbike was knocked to death by a Makuku Tours bus at the 136 km peg near Makumimavi Primary School, Chivhu, along the Harare-Masvingo highway, last night.
The couple, identified as Mr. and Mrs. Mudhikoni Magaso of Manyene in Chikomba West, is said to have left behind a four-month-old baby.
They were hit from behind and dragged for 10 meters. The bus, which was carrying ZCC church members from Gutu to Harare, was involved in the fatal collision.
This motorbike accident adds to many others in Chikomba and across the country, raising questions about the competencies of motorbike riders.
Sources privy to the details suggests that most motorbike users, especially in rural areas, do not hold any licenses.
Authorities banned the operation of three-wheeler tricycles across the country last year, but they continue to operate in areas such as Wedza, Goromonzi, Mutasa, and Chipinge, among others.
Vhayeya.com would like to express condolences to the Magaso family.
