The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has banned all omnibuses operated by Blessing Matimbe, with immediate effect, following a crash that killed three people on 1 June 2026.
Minister of Transport, Hon. Adv. F. T. Mhona, announced the suspension in a statement, saying the operator was found to be in “serious breach” of Zimbabwe’s road traffic and safety laws.
The ban comes after investigations into the crash at the junction of Willowvale Road and Nyandoro Road, which left 3 people dead and 10 passengers seriously injured.
According to the ministry, the omnibus involved, registration AGL0921, was operating without a valid Certificate of Fitness and without a Route Permit.
The ministry also found the driver was not compliant with the Road Traffic Act [Chapter 13:11] and Statutory Instrument 168 of 2006.
“These violations constitute a serious breach of the terms and conditions attached to the operator’s licence,” the Minister outlined in a statement.
The ban will remain in force until the operator meets all corrective compliance measures required by law.
Minister Mhona warned that the safety and security of the commuting public should not be compromised revealling that any operator who disregards licence conditions and safety requirements risks suspension or cancellation of their licence.
The Minister has directed traffic enforcement agencies to remain vigilant to ensure full compliance across the public transport sector.
