The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon Felix Tapiwa Mhona, has conveyed a condolence message to the families of the victims of the Munhenzva bus accident.
The Ministry has today released a press statement, with the Hon. Minister expressing his heartfelt condolences to the families of those affected.
“It is with a heavy heart that i address the nation on the fatal road traffic crash that occurred on Sunday 16 November 2025 at the 155-kilometer peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road. Tragically, four people died and fourteen others were injured when a Munhenzva bus veered of the road and crashed.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development and on my own behalf, i convey our heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families. We mourn the demise of men and women who perished in this crash. Our thoughts are with all the families of the people who were killed in the crash and our prayers are with those injured as they continue to receive treatment and care. We wish them speedy recuperation,” said Hon Mhona.
In the statement, the Minister highlighted that the ministry will conduct an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
“This incident is a sobering reminder of the critical importance of road safety. The Ministry is committed to ensuring that our roads are safe for all users. To this end, we are constituting a multidisciplinary investigation team to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“This team will assess the mechanical condition of the vehicle, driver conduct, road infrastructure, and compliance with traffic regulations. The findings will guide the implementation of evidence based, scientific, legal, and administrative measures aimed at enhancing road safety and preventing future tragedies,” he said.
He concluded by emphasizing that life matters and urging all road users to exercise caution.
“We urge all transport operators, drivers, and road users to exercise maximum caution, adhere strictly to traffic laws, and prioritize safety the safety of passengers and fellow road users. The Ministry will intensify enforcement efforts and take stern action against any violations that compromise public safety,” said the Minister.
Meanwhile, Hon Mhona in his capacity as Transport Minister is set to commission VID operational vehicles, Roller brake testers and hand over breathalyzers at VID Eastlea on the 21st of November 2025.
The breathalyzers will be handed over to the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
As the Festive Season approaches, risk of road carnages increases, and the Police will use the breathalyzers to curb drinking and driving.
