SADZA – The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Hon Itayi Ndudzo has called upon both government and party leaders to adhere to Pfumvudza dictates to ensure government realises its objective of food security within Mashonaland East province.
Speaking at Sadza, where he met local leaders before embarking on a clean-up campaign to mark the National Clean-Up Day, observed every first Friday of the month, as well as Africa Environment Day, Hon. Ndudzo challenged the leaders to show him any Pfumvudza plot that was implemented according to the prescribed standards but resulted in crop failure.
“I challenge all leaders here to lead by example when it comes to Pfumvudza. Do not just collect inputs without doing the process as expected. I challenge you to take me to a plot which was done correctly that did not do well even under these conditions where we had too much rain first and moisture stress as the season came to an end.
“We have a challenge of farmers including our party leaders who collect inputs every year but are also first to ask for welfare from government, it does not add up,” said Hon Ndudzo.
The Minister later addressed the Sadza community on issues of cleanliness, highlighting that the day was set aside by the President HE Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa to uncalculate a culture of cleanliness starting at household level and therefore promote a clean environment.
The event was attended by various Mashonaland East provincial leaders as well as Chikomba District government officials and councillors led by Chairman Israel Dhikinya.
