The Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) has revised the minimum gate charges for the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season following an Emergency Committee meeting held on March 5.
In a statement issued by the league’s Communications and Media Liaison Officer, Kudzai Bare, the PSL said the new pricing structure sets the rest of ground at US$5, VIP at US$15 and VVIP at US$25.
According to the league, the review was prompted by the rising costs associated with staging matches, including matchday services, statutory levies and tax obligations that clubs must meet.
“The PSL remains committed to striking a balance between ensuring that clubs are able to meet the operational costs associated with hosting matches while maintaining reasonable access for fans, who remain a vital part of the game,” the league said.
Ambitious Kwekwe side, HardRock has revised charges for the rest of the ground following this announcement.
The revised charges come after an earlier proposal had pegged the rest of ground tickets at US$10, a move that was met with criticism from football fans before the price was later reduced to US$5.
However, despite the new price structure, newly promoted side Hardrock FC has set its own matchday prices significantly higher, with VIP tickets for the match against Scotland FC going for US$50 and VVIP at US$100, raising questions about uniformity across the league.
Meanwhile, the PSL also reminded supporters that the match between Herentals FC and Chicken Inn FC scheduled for Saturday, March 7, will be played behind closed doors.
Herentals are serving an ongoing disciplinary sanction imposed by the PSL Disciplinary Committee last year.
Action in the 2026 season has already begun, with the opening fixture between Hunters FC and MWOS FC ending in a goalless draw.
It remains to be seen whether the revised price cap will have an impact on attendance figures in stadiums as the new season unfolds.
